World Food Day is about ending world hunger. This year, World Food Day is focusing on sustainable food systems for food security and nutrition.
Thanks to food scientists and technologists, food processing techniques developed over the past several decades have made significant contributions to the efficiency with which we use the resources required to produce raw food materials and ingredients for food manufacturing and distribution. But in spite of our progress, nearly one billion people go hungry each day.
Help us honor World Food Day on October 16 and throughout the year by getting the word out about the ways in which food science is helping to address the critical food needs of our growing global population.
We¡¯ve developed a number of resources to help you. Consider sharing one of our ¡°World Without Food Science¡± videos or our newest video focused on the critical issue of food waste with your friends, families, colleagues, and the media, so that they can better understand how food science is helping to find solutions to feeding the world, both today and in the future.
It¡¯s not necessary to do everything, but it is important to do at least one thing. To learn more about additional ways you can help educate the world about the contributions of food science, visit our resources, tips, and tools page.
